Caboose to Caboose: Bikepacking the Grayson Gravel Traverse

From Bluegrass to BBQ and quiet traffic-free roads it's a region near and dear to the heart of our Watt Wagon and we can't thank her enough for sharing it with us.

Last autumn Cynthia and the gang took a couple days to meander through Grayson County, Virginia,  one of the best kept gravel secrets in the eastern United States.  Connecting Whitetop and Fries, VA, the Grayson Traverse uses the existing Virginia Creeper and New River trails across some of the best dirt and paved roads Virginia has to offer. Along the way they encounter great views, tough climbs and even a blue grass festival.

Set on the highland plateau of the to the north of the Blue Ridge mountains, this remote area of Virginia is not one seen by most tourists. The region is experienced at a slow pace the region is ripe with the  unique cultural and culinary experiences of Appalachia. From Bluegrass to BBQ and quiet traffic free roads this it’s a region near to the heart of our own Watt Wagon and we can’t thank her enough for sharing it with us.
