GET CREATIVE – Akira, the Sun by #SoloSalita

Inspired by a visionary Japanese manga, Akira, is the latest custom paint by #Solosalita: a Strada "ready for the third millenium" that is the last of a series together with the 8848 Strada Due.

“… what if Kaneda and the Capsules had ridden bicycles rather than motorcycles?”

Kaneda and his mates are a gang of motorcyclists that rages in Neo-Tokyo, the visionary post-Third World War Tokyo. Akira, is the name of the manga published since 1982 that inspired the new custom Strada made by #Solosalita.

The bike is a Strada that Gianni Zamponi, owner of #Solosalita, describes as follows: “it is a road bike revised and adapted to the third millennium: single chainring with 12 electronic gears, gravel handlebar for absolute control, aerodynamic and reactive, ready for any encounter-confrontation.

Akira’s specs:

  • 3T Torno LTD with 42T chainring
  • Sram AXS eTap 12x 10-36
  • HUNT AERO 50 with Vittoria CORSA 28-700c
  • Ride Farr carbon handlebar
  • Ride Farr carbon Aero Bolt-on

There is one thing that fascinates Gianni and his friend as much as the impossible challenges: such as riding the entire route of the Giro d’Italia no-stop or entering the toughest bikepacking events around the world. Or again, as they themselvers have done several times and pushed others to do, covering an elevation gain equal to the height of Mount Everest in a single ride. Do an #Everesting, as they say.

The question now arises: when the first Everesting for Akira?
