GET CREATIVE – Isaac’s rejuvenated Exploro

A change from white to black, new decals, and ready for the road (or gravel) again

Text by Isaac Reina , photos by Isaac Reina - 21 November 2019

Our friend Isaac Reina sent us a few pictures of his renovated EXPLORO Team

His bike left the factory as a white/red Exploro long time ago, but Isaac wanted a change in colors, which in the end felt like having a new bike!

He told us “I have been cycling for more than 25 years and as the owner of a cycling distributor company (Surbikes in Spain), I have been able to test hundreds of bikes. We don’t carry any bike brand at our company (only parts and components) so I could choose whatever brand I wanted for my personal use. After checking geometries and specs with my partner, we decided the Exploro was the best choice and oh man, it was the right choice!

“I did not want a bike that only worked for the road, cause we have amazing gravel roads down here in Andalucia. In the end, I realized the Exploro is also the best “road” bike I ever had once you put the road tires on it. Perfect combo.”

Regarding the paint job, Isaac has experience with that, so he decided to do the job himself, removing the paint down to the carbon and applying new decals and lacquer for an amazing job. The build was then also renovated with a Shimano Dura Ace 9100 Di2, 4iii powermeter, and two sets of Industry Nine wheels, an Ultralite 650 version for gravel and a pair of Nine 45 Carbon for the road.

Issac told us “this bike comes with me every time I travel for work, and is my trusty companion, our last trip together being to the Rocky Mountains in Canada, an amazing journey with great landscapes and awesome rides. This EXPLORO is staying with me for a long time!”

What an artistic and performance statement – I feel rejuvenated just looking at it. Amazing job.
